Page Cannot Be Displayed

If you are getting the message "Page cannot be displayed", but it seems like you are already connected there are a number of tests to try.

1) Make sure that you are definately connected

2) It is important that you powercycle. To do this ensure that your modem or router is reset and you have reset your computer. Most routers will have a reset button at the back.

3) Check if you have the modem drivers CD, if you definately do then uninstalling and reinstalling your modem/router drivers and try again.

4)Click on "Start", then "Run" then type "CMD." This will open the command prompt, which will look like a black box.

5) Type in: ping www.google.com

6) This should return info such as packets sent and packets recieved, all of which should equal 4. If this does not happen then further investigation is required.

7) One of the most common causes of this problem can be firewall software. We recommend that all users use firewall software, however some firewall software, such as Norton can cause problems. Norton firewall is a very powerful tool in protecting your PC, however sometimes it can block Internet activity all together. It might be worth disabling your firewall as a test, but ensure you visit a reliable website to test it, such as www.bbc.co.uk or www.google.co.uk. If disabling your firewall helps then the configuration is almost certainly wrong and it might be worth contacting Norton.

8) Try uninstalling and reinstalling your modem. Ensure that you have the CD with the modem drivers on.

9) Try logging in, but instead of your normal username, try using the bt_test@startup_domain login. You are instructing the RAS to route you directly to the bt.net intranet. This is probably the single most important thing you can do before calling your ISP when you have a problem. If you can connect using this login then the problem is probably not at your end or in the local exchange. The problem must lie with either the BT RADIUS server or at the gateway/ISP RADIUS server. Unfortunately the login only grants you the right to access www.bt.net and nothing else..
